Making compensation claims
Accident compensation
Your accident compensation is the total amount you receive from making a successful accident claim. This doesn't just include the award for your pain and suffering, which will be assessed by a review of your medical report and by finding out how well you have recovered from your injuries. It also includes the payment to you for all your financial losses arising from the accident, like lost earnings and extra travelling expenses. It is not always easy to know at the start of a claim how much accident compensation you will eventually receive if your claim is successful. It may take some time before the doctor thinks you have fully recovered, or have made as good a recovery as can be expected. If your recovery is going to take many months, and liability is not disputed, your solicitor should be able to get you an accident compensation payment. This could be very helpful for you if you have suffered loss of income and have had extra expenses because of your accident. Your solicitor will explain this clearly to you.
