The injury compensation that your solicitor will negotiate for you - or the court will award if agreement on the right amount cannot be reached - is known as general damages.There are guidelines used by the court and lawyers when trying to value the injury compensation for an accident victim. The guidelines show categories for each type of injury - for example minor, moderate and severe neck injuries. Each of these categories has a wide bracket of damages, so your solicitor will make sure you receive the maximum amount for your injury.
Your solicitor will be familiar with these guidelines and will give you an indication of what your injury compensation may be worth as soon as the true extent of your injuries is known and your likely recovery time is clear. This information is normally in the medical report that the solicitor will arrange for you.
